Discovering Australia’s Animals

Stepping into The Red Lands means setting off on an instant journey over 15,000 km from Loir-et-Cher, right into the heart of the Australian bush. Spanning more than 4,500 m², this fully redesigned immersive space—built on the site of our former mini-farm—is now open to the public.
You’ll find yourself immersed among the iconic red kangaroos, and your walk will lead you to discover adorable Parma wallabies, the legendary emus… and the mysterious wombat, a species unique in France!

The Wombat: A Marsupial Like No Other
A marsupial mammal
The common wombat is one of Australia’s largest land mammals. Despite its teddy bear-like appearance, it is actually a close relative of koalas and kangaroos. In addition to sharing recent common ancestors, it is also, like them, a marsupial: female wombats have a pouch, uniquely opening toward the rear.
One of this species’ most remarkable traits? It is the only animal in the world that produces cube-shaped droppings. These serve as a true means of communication, allowing it to mark its territory and signal its presence to others.
At ZooParc, you can already meet our two common wombats: Mersey, the female, who comes from Prague Zoo (Czech Republic), where she was born on March 17, 2024; and Sandy, the male, born in February 2024 at Hanover Zoo (Germany).
Designing a Custom Immersive Space

In November 2025, goats, sheep, donkeys, rabbits, and chickens left this area, historically known as the ZooParc’s mini-farm.
In just a few months, the space was completely redesigned. Within this 4,500 m² area, several distinct habitats were created by our teams to welcome different species while respecting their well-being. The landscaping was entirely reimagined, and a river was even dug: you are no longer in Beauval, but in the heart of the Australian bush. Total escape guaranteed!
