See all the animals in winter!
Looking for things to do in winter when you feel like getting out, the kids are on holiday, and you want to surprise and amaze them? Visit ZooParc de Beauval, of course! In winter, you can see all the animals at the zoo. Yes—contrary to popular belief, you can admire every species, both outdoors and indoors.

Beauval amazes you, even in winter!
While Beauval is renowned for its vast outdoor areas where hundreds of animals thrive, the park also features four themed tropical greenhouses and the Equatorial Dome, home to dozens of species from across the globe.
As you explore, step inside each of these unique spaces and discover a different territory every time. In case of bad weather, they also offer the perfect shelter to warm up before continuing your visit feeling refreshed and energized. The greenhouses are maintained at temperatures between 25°C and 30°C year-round, depending on the needs of their residents.
A quick tour of the 4 greenhouses and the Equatorial Dome
- The Tropical Bird Greenhouse – Home to hundreds of colorful birds with enchanting names, such as the rhinoceros hornbill, crowned roul-roul, Pesquet’s parrot, Victoria crowned pigeon, and even a peaceful pair of sloths!
- The Orangutan and Chimpanzee Greenhouse – A vast space where these two great ape species live alongside smaller primates such as white-faced sakis and emperor tamarins.
- The Gorilla Greenhouse – Full of surprises, it features a large indoor habitat for Asato, the patriarch gorilla, and his family, as well as a vivarium inhabited by dwarf crocodiles, turtles, fish, and amphibians.
- The Australian Greenhouse – Travel to Oceania in a unique setting that combines the arid landscapes of the desert with the beauty of vibrant marine environments. Koalas, clownfish, sea anemones, iguanas, Goodfellow’s tree kangaroos, blue-spotted jellyfish… you’re not dreaming—you’re almost in Australia!
- The Equatorial Dome – With 1 hectare to explore, soaring 38 meters high, home to 200 tropical species, and maintained at 26°C year-round, the Beauval Dome is truly one of a kind. Discover an incredible diversity of animals including tamanduas, giant otters, Aldabra giant tortoises, Rodrigues flying fox, Komodo dragons, golden lion tamarins, West Indian manatees, douc langurs, and pygmy hippos.

In February, for a change from the mountains, choose an exotic getaway at Beauval. And the cherry on top: hop aboard a real cable car, just like in the greatest ski resorts. 'Le Nuage de Beauval’ takes you across the park at a height of 35 meters, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the entire site. Truly spectacular!

Animals to see even in winter
Animals that thrive in cold temperatures and grey skies continue to live outdoors throughout the winter. These “winter animals” are perfectly adapted to the cold, with features such as thick fur, insulating tails, padded feet, and waterproof plumage. You’ll be able to see giant pandas, red pandas, snow leopards, takins, and penguins in their outdoor habitats from morning to evening.
As for species less suited to winter conditions, they can be observed in their indoor environments. Large viewing windows allow you to admire them comfortably. When weather conditions are favorable, they may also venture outside, but otherwise they stay warm indoors. Giraffes, zebras, rhinos, and big cats—you’ll be able to see them all!

Meet our educational guides
Curious to learn more? Take advantage of your winter visit or stay at Beauval to connect with our educational guides. Present every day throughout the park, they host a variety of live activities focused on iconic species such as koalas, gorillas, giant pandas, manatees, Komodo dragons, Rodrigues fruit bats, and pygmy hippos. You can also discover topics like the secrets behind the sea lion représentation, animals and water, reptiles, and more.
As a bonus, you can listen to recorded talks available daily at set times throughout the park. The full activity schedule can also be found on the “Activities” page of the ZooParc de Beauval app.

For small and big appetites: lunch break!

Take shelter… in case of rain or snow!
At Beauval, everything is designed to keep you comfortable, whatever the weather. Take the time to explore the Equatorial Dome from every angle, then enjoy a break in the “Uluwatu” shop to pick up some beautiful souvenirs. You’ll find a wide selection of decorative items, soft toys, games, clothing, as well as books and illustrated stories for all ages.
To move around the park and reach the different territories, use the walkways some are covered to protect you from the elements. Alternatively, you can take a break at the Beauval Nature House, where you can learn and exchange ideas about conservation while waiting for the rain to pass.
And if you’re ready to embrace the weather, Beauval-branded ponchos are also available in the shop.
At the ZooParc de Beauval, there are no unpleasant surprises: everything is included in the entry ticket price. Some activities have an extra charge, but you are made aware! There is no additional charge for shows, educational activities, the 'Nuage de Beauval’ cable car ride over the park, or the visit to the Equatorial Dome. It’s all inclusive!
